ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Cristina! I absolutely love teaching and music, so being a piano teacher is my dream come true. I've been playing the piano for over 20 years and teaching a variety of piano, music, and language classes for over 15 years. I specialize in teaching beginning and intermediate students in both private and group lessons, finding the right piano coursework to help them meet their individual goals. I have a wide collection of sheet music, method books, and I'm always on the hunt for new music and games to make each lesson fun!
Throughout my life, I have studied the piano under the tutelage of marvelous teachers and received several awards from the Utah Federation of Music Clubs and the Utah Music Teachers Association Achievement in Music organization. I have BA and MA degrees from Brigham Young University in Spanish Translation and Portuguese Linguistics respectively. Though my university education wasn't music related, I did teach university-level language classes for several years and it reaffirmed my love of teaching. The pedagogy courses that I took were my favorite, especially working with curriculum development and selection. I apply this to my piano student by making sure each student has the piano materials they need to achieve their goals and have fun while doing so!
Following my university studies, I re-opened my piano studio in Ohio where I have been teaching private and group lessons to children and adults for the past five years. I am active member of the musical community in Dayton. I currently serve as president of the Beavercreek Piano Teachers Association, a junior club counselor in the Ohio chapter of the National Federation of Music Clubs, and as a member of the Dayton Music Club.
I currently live in the Dayton Ohio area with my husband and two children, where I teach piano lessons out of my home studio. Please reach out if you have any questions!
